Collection Rating 9.5 out of 10Pro: this is one of the best castle sets. It is huge and very detailed: the gargoyles and the general aspects are great. The king minifig is a must such as his horse.
Cons: it’s a bit fragile in the complex and if you want to buy it now it will be quite expensive. |
6090 Royal Knight's Castle (1995)The kingdom of the Royal Knights is located in the richest part of the East and therefore money has never been a problem for King Leonidas; his palace is the biggest and most luxury one in the East. It is protected on the back by the mountains and on the front by the Royal River (which is very wide in that part). The castle is huge and has two entrances: the main one in the front with two beautiful wooden doors and an iron gate, the other one on the right side with a drawbridge (used to get in and out the goods). In the interior there are beautiful gardens and stone streets, a decorated well and also secret hidden places for storing treasures. Regarding the exterior we find over the main entrance the first tower which has all the symbols and the flags of the royal family and has also an internal space for guards (decorated and with a beautiful column in the middle in addition to the main flag of the royal family) and a watch tower at the top (the top is decorated with emerald blue small towers and gargoyles not to mention the flames and all the other wall paintings). At the side of the main tower there are two small towers, each of them guarded by a soldier with crossbow. On the back of the second one there is an hidden room which is told to be inhabited by the ghost of the castle. Going to the back side we find another medium tower with the apartments of the soldiers inside, while on the back right there is the bigger tower with the apartments of the king. These apartments are very well furnished with the throne of the king; the top of this tower is decorated with emerald blue roof and gargoyles and axes with shields and has even a place to store treasure. On the back there is the second entrance I mentioned before. The walls are protected with fixed crossbows and rotating small catapults in order to make the castle invulnerable. As anticipated the castle has six guards each of them with specific skills and a specific assigned task; there are also two guarding knights for the king.
Knights King Leonidas: he is THE king but even more than that.. he is a patron who loves arts rather the war and living in wealth and comfort. Even after his engagement with princess Myriam he continued to give wonderful parties in his castle and be the protector of poets and musician of the kingdom. He rides a wonderful white horse with the royal trappings and wears a unique decorated mantle under the shiny gold crown with white plumes. He uses to fight with the golden sword inherited from his ancestors. Lord Bennet: first guard of the kind and specialized in lance fighting. Rides a black horse with a black helm with white plumes. Like the king he’s a musician and plays the harp while not fighting. Lord Barnes: second guard knight of the king and specialized in sword fighting. Rides a brown horse with a black helm with red plumes. He’s fond of literature (he’s a close friend of the Silver Dolphin Knight) and quite a poet himself. |
Collection Rating 5.5 out of 10Pro: has a mechanism to make the skeleton appear and disappear.
Cons: poorly built small set. Buy it only if you are a collector. |
6036 Skeleton's Surprise (1995)To protect the border of the kingdom from the Forestmen, King Leonidas built this outpost guarded by a soldier and it is told that inside are put the skeletons of the dead enemies. The outpost is quite small and has space for the soldier to go on top of it to have a better defence. To torches burn at the entrance of the building.

Collection Rating 7 out of 10Pro: the carriage is well built and you can get four minifigs including the king which is awesome.
Cons: the king minifig does not have the decorated mantle. |
6044 King's Carriage (1995)This is the official carriage of the King. Like everything under the reign of King Leonidas is luxurious. This carriage is painted in emerald blue and black and is pulled by two white horses. Three soldiers are there: one to drive the carriage and the other two to protect the king and the treasure which is stored in the back. The roof of the carriage can be opened and there are also two blue doors which can let the king descend to the ground. There are decorative lances with shields with symbol of the lineage and also two flaming torches in the front.
Knights King Theonidas: he is the father of Leonidas and abdicated in favour of his young son. Anyway he travels all around the reign in order to talk with the people and discuss important matters of politics and commerce. He’s like an ambassador of the king and is very beloved by the subjects. |
Collection Rating 6.5 out of 10Pro: very detailed set and amazing if combined with the royal castle. You can get also a dragon knight minifig.
Cons: the central part of the bridge is quite poorly build and the tricky mechanism doesn’t work so well. |
6078 Royal Dawbridge (1995)As anticipated the part of the river in front of the castle is quite wide and therefore the King ordered to build a drawbridge. Of course this bridge could not be common and therefore also a guarded tower was built at the end of the bridge itself. The tower is guarded by three soldiers (one with arch, one with crossbow and one with spear) and is very high: on the very top is decorated like the castle with emerald blue mini towers, red and white flags and big decorative axes. There is also place in the interior for the apartments of the guards and a small raft was built to let the soldiers navigate in the river; in the very low part (front and back as well) there are two secret chambers, one for treasures and the other for enemies skeletons. There is finally a tricky mechanism which can make part of the bridge falling when the enemies are over.
Knights Lord Draconis: he’s a quite ambiguous man.. once he was a Dragon Knight but for conflicts with the wizards of the East he asked Leonidas for asylum and he became a Royal Knight (he wanted to maintain the typical dragon knight armour and shield): he was assigned to protect the royal drawbridge and accepted without any objections. He’s very good in fighting with the long sword and he doen’t talk too much. |
